Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante announced a special charity raffle to help people affected by the recent wildfires in Southern California.
LaPlante retweeted a news piece about the raffle and wrote, “Michael is giving away some of his most special gear for great cause, and you could win a pretty crazy guitar rig for $20! It’s win-win either way.” She then shared the link to the raffle herself.
The band is raising money for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles and Altadena Girls, two organizations supporting recovery efforts after the devastating fires that began on January 7, 2025.
The charity raffle offers a grand prize that includes gear used by Spiritbox guitarist Michael Stringer on tour and in the studio. The prize package features an Aristides 070R guitar, a Jackson Pro Plus Series 7-string guitar, a Fender Tonemaster Pro, and a 50-watt EVH 5150 head.
Fans can enter the raffle with a $20 donation, and every entry increases the chance of winning the entire package.
Michael Stringer shared his thoughts on the effort, saying, “Southern California has faced devastating wildfires over the past week and a half, and I want to not only donate but raise as much as possible to help. Watching the destruction and its impact has been heartbreaking, and it’s hit home hard for us. Josh, in particular, lost everything in the Eaton Fire, and we’re doing everything we can to make a difference.”
The wildfires have caused widespread destruction, with over 12,000 buildings destroyed, nearly 100,000 people evacuated, and at least 24 lives lost. Damages are estimated to be between $250 and $275 billion. The impact has been heartbreaking for many, including Spiritbox bassist Josh Gilbert as he lost his home in the Eaton Fire.
Spiritbox isn’t the only one stepping up to help. Metallica recently donated $500,000 through their All Within My Hands Foundation to support wildfire relief efforts. Their contribution is going to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund.
Other musicians are pitching in as well. Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day announced two FireAid benefit concerts, featuring Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, and other big names, to raise money for wildfire victims and help prevent future disasters. These concerts are scheduled for January 30 in Inglewood, California, with tickets going on sale January 22.
