Conan O’Brien recently joined the Austrian metal band Cringe Blizzard during the filming of the new season of his travel show, Conan O’Brien Must Go. He performed with the band on December 5 at a live show in Feldkirch, Austria.
O’Brien is already familiar with the band. Cringe Blizzard’s lead singer, Katharina, had appeared on O’Brien’s podcast, ‘Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend.‘ Katharina invited O’Brien to Austria to give him metal-screaming lessons, and it seems he took up her offer.
Cringe Blizzard doesn’t have Conan O’Brien as a member, but the band features skilled musicians in this genre. They describe themselves as ‘fresh and icy slush metal’ from Austria.
A local news station in Austria recorded the performance. After the show, O’Brien posted a photo from the show on Instagram, joking: “Just got a hernia singing with a metal band in Feldkirch, Austria.”
The band showed love for O’Brien instead. They wrote in a separate post, “Best gig ever! This was the best and only day of true happiness for our vocalist, kaddl. In this very location, she celebrated her wedding and barely cried as much as she did tonight!! Thank you all for coming, and keep crankin’ up da Cringe, duuuude.”
Although Conan O’Brien’s career as a metal frontman may not take off, he has a big event ahead. He will host the 2025 97th Academy Awards on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.
