“It was an empty void. I didn’t realize, right? It’s like by giving [God] credit. I used to get irritated that I wouldn’t get the writer’s credit, you know, on these songs and stuff. And then it hit me,” Lowery said.

“I was talking to Eric Bass from Shinedown — we used to have a little Bible study — and we both came to the realization, man, we’ve been harboring these resentments over not getting the credit we deserve behind the scenes, and we’re not giving the credit to the ultimate. So it’s like the hypocrisy in that, you know?” he continued.
