Testament frontman Chuck Billy recently revealed that the band is already working on their next record. He shared the exciting news in an interview with Little Punk People.

Billy discussed the band’s current creative momentum and the productive collaboration between his bandmates. Rhythm guitarist Eric Peterson and drummer Chris Dovas are leading the songwriting.

“It’s actually working so well. Eric and Chris actually have been working on a future record,” Billy said. “I got a call from Eric yesterday saying ‘Oh, me and Chris got about six more tunes ready to go’ and they already had two to start.”

The frontman expressed enthusiasm about the band’s progress on the upcoming material.

“So they’re already on their way to another record, ya know?” he continued.

This development comes as Testament continues to build on their recent creative momentum. The band maintains their position as one of thrash metal’s most enduring acts.

The band’s prolific output reflects their established songwriting process. Wikipedia noted that rhythm guitarist Eric Peterson has been a core creative force since the band’s formation in 1983 under the name Legacy. Peterson’s collaboration with drummer Chris Dovas represents the latest chapter in Testament’s evolving lineup. The band has seen various musicians contribute to their distinctive thrash metal sound over the decades.

Testament’s current creative surge aligns with their active touring schedule. Loudwire reported the band announced their 2026 “Thrash of the Titans” tour with fellow thrash veterans Overkill and Destruction in December 2025. This upcoming tour demonstrates Testament’s continued relevance in the metal scene. It shows their ability to draw audiences alongside other legendary acts from the genre’s golden era.

The timing of this new material development is particularly significant given Testament’s recent achievements. Loudwire revealed their 2025 album “Para Bellum” was named the publication’s best metal album of the year. This indicates the band’s creative peak continues well into their fourth decade of existence.

Blabbermouth confirmed that the “Thrash of the Titans” tour will take place in March and April 2026. This suggests Testament will be balancing their new songwriting efforts with extensive live performances. This dual focus on both studio work and touring reflects the band’s commitment to maintaining their connection with fans while continuing to evolve their musical catalog.

The band’s ability to simultaneously work on new material while preparing for major tours demonstrates the professional efficiency that has kept Testament relevant in the competitive metal landscape for over four decades.
