In a new interview with Music Radar, Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett discussed both his solo career and his career with Foo Fighters.
Shiflett’s only role in the band is to be the lead guitarist, while during his solo work and performances, he’s singing, playing guitar -including the solos- and writing songs. During the interview, he was asked whether or not it is nice to go back to working with Foos and just play the guitar instead of doing all the work himself. He replied:
“One hundred percent. I mean, going out and doing my solo tours makes me always makes me appreciate how great we have it in Foos. Not only that thing that you’re talking about, the musical side of it, but just the luxury of it all.”
What Luxury Means For Foo Fighters Members

Though many other musicians might think that luxury comes with money, this is not the case for the Foo Fighters members, especially for Shiflett. Following the conversation, the rocker shared what he meant by ‘luxury’:
“To have a great crew – you don’t have to worry about changing your string, driving the van and all that sort of stuff. To be in a nice, comfortable hotel room. I come back from one of my own tours, and I’m like, ‘Oh baby, I’m home!'”
Being Influenced from Other Artists

Prior to the conversation about the luxuries, the guitarist compared his time solo and with Foo Fighters only to state that his guitar playing influenced his singing and that he loves to be exposed to other musicians as he gets a chance to see different techniques and melodies being played. Similarly, his appearance in the band also helped him shape his current work.
The rocker has appeared on eight Foo albums, including the latest 2023 album, ‘But Here We Are,’ as a tribute to the late Taylor Hawkins.
So, it seems that the rocker feels refreshed when he’s away from doing solo tours and performances. Speaking of, Shiflett is now on tour in support of his newly released album, ‘Lost At Sea,’ starting on March 20 and ending on March 27.
