Liam Gallagher has made some not-so-nice comments about Coldplay, and the frontman Chris Martin has responded to them.
“[Chris Martin] looks like a geography teacher,” the Oasis rocker once said. He went on to add that his band’s fans were “boring and ugly and don’t look like they’re having a good time.”
That was until the two came together for a performance of ‘Live Forever’ at Ariana Grande’s One Love Manchester concert in 2017. “I take back everything I ever said about you,” Gallagher later clarified.
However, Gallagher’s earlier words didn’t bother Martin. “I’ve always loved Liam,” he told NME. “He blows hot and cold, but he’s always free to come round my house for tea and we’ll have lasagne…”
In fact, the rocker is excited about the Oasis reunion. “That reunion showed what music is all about. It just exists to make people happy; for the people that want it. I felt really great that they decided to do that,” he added.
In his chat with NME, Martin also talked about Coldplay nearing the end of their time writing new music. He previously said the band aimed to release their final album in 2025 and planned to finish their catalog after 12 albums.
‘Moon Music’ came out on October 4, and is Coldplay’s 10th album, following 2021’s ‘Music Of The Spheres.’ Martin confirmed they still want to stop at 12 records, but the 2025 deadline will be pushed back. “It is 12 albums for sure, but we’re going to be a bit later than that,” he shared.
Last week, Coldplay announced they will play eight stadium shows in London and Hull next year. These will be their only UK and European performances for 2025. They also stated that 10 percent of ticket sales will go to the Music Venue Trust, a charity that supports UK music venues and new artists.
