Coldplay are back in the studio! Is this the last hurrah or the one before that? Since they announced their world-shattering plan to retire in 2025, is this it? Coldplay frontman Chris Martin took to his official Twitter account to share with fans that they were back in the studio to record new material that will presumably be in an upcoming album in the new year.
At the beginning of the year, when BBC Radio 2 presenter Jo Whiley asked Chris Martin about retirement rumors, the singer confirmed that they would stop recording and releasing albums after 2025. The news took the world by storm as the singer also said they planned to release only three more albums, one of which could be a musical.
In his tweet, Martin initially greeted his fans by writing, “Hello, everybody. I hope you’re all doing really well. Here are some things I love at the moment.” The singer didn’t skip listing some tracks to his fans that he has recently enjoyed before giving them the biggest news.
He named several songs, “Yun (feat. Erykah Badu,) – ‘RM,’ Erykah Badu – ‘Tyrone’ (live), Bayka – ‘She Like It,’ the 1975 – ‘Looking For Somebody (To Love),’ Inhaler – ‘Totally,’ Kyoka – ‘Hurt People,’ Stormzy – ‘Hide & Seek.’” After giving a taste of what he has been enjoying listening to, Martin wrote, “We are in the studio, we send you all much love,” before closing off the tweet.
Apparently, the band is again in the studio for new music, but we aren’t sure if this will be their last since 2025 is approaching in nearly two years. Since they haven’t released three studio albums as of yet, it can’t be the last, right?
