Nickelback recently shared not being everyone’s guilty pleasure anymore long after they were made fun of with internet memes and jokes.

The band has been the topic of internet memes for many years, and although there is no certain answer as to why, some claim that it’s because of their lyrics revolving around the same topics and that they were repetitive, while others claim that the band’s music is bad in general.

The band recently addressed the topic on 13News Now for an interview and expressed their thoughts on the people who can call themselves a fan of the band without feeling guilty. Chad Kroeger shared:

“It’s nice. We’ve stopped being everyone’s guilty pleasure, and we’ve just turned into the band that people enjoy. You no longer have to hide that you’re a Nickelback fan. It’s out there.”

Kroeger revealed what stopped people from constantly joking about and making fun of the band:

“We definitely went through it, we paid our dues. We went through the whole meme joke thing, and we came up the other side. Thank you, TikTok, for whatever reason, making it not cool to pick on the band anymore, which is very fun for us.”

The rocker not only discussed the matter but also reacted to some of the memes he came across on the internet earlier. One particularly popular joke stemmed from their hit song “Photograph,” and the other members of the band found it to be funny as well, reacting to it in a 2022 video.
