Chad Kroeger Admits Having A Real Hard Time Singing Nickelback Songs

3 Min Read

Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger cut his live performance in half and shared his frustration with his fans during their concert in Missouri on August 3. While singing ‘Animals,’ Chad stopped performing and said:

“I can’t do this. I cannot sit here with a f*cking absolutely destroyed throat and try to make it through this show and pretend like there’s nothing f*cking wrong and take your f*cking money because that is wrong. I’m having a hard time hittin’ fuckin’ notes.

The doctor just jabbed me in the hip with some prednisone, and we all crossed our fingers backstage, hoping this was gonna work. But I cannot, in good conscience, stand up here and sing these f*ckin’ songs and have my voice crack, and everything sound like shit.

It’s driving me f*cking nuts. So, I’ll tell you what. I could give it my best. I could keep just trying, and we could just pull the f*ck around if you want to.”

The vocalist underwent surgery in 2015 to remove a cyst from his vocal cords. Two years later, during his interview with FaceCulture, he revealed he didn’t come across any complications and described the situation as:

“I need my voice to write melodies, and so sometimes you’re singing a melody, and then it’s the jigsaw puzzle of putting the lyrics into that melody. That would be really tough to do. I guess I could have done it on a piano if I sat down and did it that way. No, it’s just so much easier just to sing. It was a nice break. Keep the mouth shut. There were a lot of jokes about that. My wife at the time, we laughed a lot about that one.”

Nickelback’s ‘Get Rollin’ Tour’ started on June 12 and will continue until August 30. You can check the tour dates and tickets here. You can listen to ‘Get Rollin’,’ Nickelback’s first album after five years, here.
