REO Speedwagon bassist Bruce Hall addressed fans’ questions about a possible reunion and farewell tour in a recent post on his Facebook page. The post came after frontman Kevin Cronin announced earlier in 2025 that he had decided to stop touring as REO Speedwagon.
Hall shared a video of the band’s performance at Live Aid 1985, reflecting on the milestone. Alongside the footage, he wrote a caption looking back on the moment.
“41 years ago? Time sure does fly!!” Hall wrote. “What a blast it was!!”
The post drew responses from fans eager to see the classic lineup return to the road. One fan asked whether a farewell tour featuring the classic lineup — noting the absence of the late Gary Richrath — could be organized. The fan suggested it would be a fitting tribute to decades of fan support, before potentially allowing Cronin to continue under the REO Speedwagon name with other members.
Hall responded directly to the sentiment, making clear where he stands on the possibility of a reunion.
“Nothing I want more than to put REO Speedwagon back on the road again,” Hall said. “I never wanted to stop touring, so as long as Kevin and I both are on stage together…REO stays alive.”
No official announcement regarding a reunion or farewell tour has been made at this time. Hall’s comments come against a backdrop of significant changes for the band, with the future of the REO Speedwagon name remaining uncertain following a difficult split that brought decades of touring to a close.
In September 2024, the band announced they would cease touring as REO Speedwagon by the end of the year, citing irreconcilable differences between Cronin and Hall. Although Hall had recovered from surgery and was medically cleared to return to the road, the conflict between the two remained unresolved and ultimately prevented a full reunion. The band’s final performance under the REO Speedwagon name took place in Las Vegas on December 21, 2024.
Following the split, Cronin moved forward with his own group, the Kevin Cronin Band, which includes former REO members Dave Amato and Bryan Hitt, alongside touring musicians Derek Hilland and Matt Bissonette. The Kevin Cronin Band co-headlined the Brotherhood of Rock Tour with Styx in summer 2025. Cronin performed REO Speedwagon’s landmark album Hi Infidelity in full, with Don Felder, formerly of the Eagles, serving as the opening act.
Despite the formal end of touring, the classic lineup has made limited appearances together on special occasions. The group briefly reunited on September 27, 2025, for a performance at the University of Illinois Marching Illini event, and again on March 7, 2026, to open an exhibition at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. These one-off appearances have kept the door open for occasional collaborations, even as a full-scale tour remains off the table.
Hall’s statement signals that his desire to tour with Cronin has not diminished, and fans continue to hold out hope that the two could share a stage again in a more formal capacity. Any return of REO Speedwagon as a touring act depends entirely on whether Cronin and Hall can resolve the differences that brought the band’s run to an end.
