Bring Me The Horizon’s Jordan Fish Admits My Chemical Romance Influence

2 Min Read

In a recent interview with Kerrang, Jordan Fish of Bring Me The Horizon opened up about the band’s new song, ‘LosT,’ and didn’t hold back when it came to discussing the influences behind its creation. The conversation revealed some connections to other well-known bands in the music scene.

The new track came a year after Bring Me The Horizon’s latest project, ‘sTraNgeRs,’ and showcased a different sound for the band. Fish acknowledged that the song had some emo influences when asked about it, specifically citing My Chemical Romance as their primary source of inspiration.

Before saying anything else, the musician humorously called out those who were secretive about their inspirations and didn’t hesitate to share his own. He proudly admitted that the band was influenced by My Chem, especially in the chorus, while the verses were inspired by The Strokes‘ pop-indie vibe.

To confirm other bands’ impact on the song, the keyboardist said:

Yeah, definitely. I think you’re not meant to talk about your influences – people usually say everything except what it’s obviously influenced by. You hear a band do a song that sounds exactly like Deftones, and they’ll say they were listening to a lot of Glassjaw or something else – just say Deftones (laughs).

So this song is influenced by My Chem. I feel the verse is a bit different; it’s kind of indie-sounding to me, like The Strokes or some pop-indie vibe. I don’t know why you make what you make; it just comes out.”

Fans can look forward to hearing ‘LosT’ performed live in arenas this summer, as Bring Me The Horizon’s upcoming tour kicks off in June. Those interested in attending can purchase tickets through the band’s official website.
