Brian May Announces The Release Of ‘Back To The Light’ Reissue

Queen lead guitarist Brian May announced that the reissue of his debut solo studio album, ‘Back to the Light,’ was available for pre-ordering on his official Instagram account. He also stated that the new reissues of his classics will be released in the future while he was sharing his thoughts and feelings about ‘Back to the Light.’
Brian May has been pursuing a very successful solo career along with his career in Queen. May released his first solo studio album ‘Back to the Light’ on September 28, 1992. The album received very positive reviews from his fans and consisted of very popular singles ‘Too Much Love Will Kill You’ and ‘Driven by You.’
Brian May has recently started his new project named ‘Brian May Gold Series’ which he will rerelease and reproduce his iconic songs. His first reissue became ‘Back to the Light’ and is available to pre-order now. The pre-order will be in a Limited Collector’s Edition which includes an exclusive white vinyl LP, two CDs, and a 32-page book. The reissue will be released on August 6, 2021.
In his recent Instagram post, Brian May shared his excitement about the reissue of ‘Back to the Light’ and he gave his reasons why he released one song in every series. He stated that it is easier, cheaper, and more productive to focus on one song every time. Also, he revealed that he started working on his next project and will continue to release more reissues of his classics.
May’s IG post read as follows:
“Ok! Come and Swipe with me! Here’s what’s in the Gold Series ‘Back to the Light’ shop for preorder. Hope you all find something you like. There are a few little extra touches, as you will see soon. It’s been fun working on the whole collection – making it just that bit more special than it was in 1992. Thanks for the great response today on the launch. It is exciting for me to feel the excitement out there. This is just the beginning. We’re already working on the next issue in this Gold Series. I’m hoping I can polish and reissue All my solo work this way as time goes on.
My reasoning for not putting out a massive boxed set of everything all at once is it enables me and my team to take our time and focus completely on each album, one at a time to get the very best out of it. Also, that makes it an enjoyable process. I feel that from your point of view out there it’s quite hard to assimilate dozens of tracks all at one go. This way, you can enjoy each project in bite-size chunks at a leisurely pace – just like it was 30 years ago. It makes it more affordable.
It doesn’t require a massive outlay of cash all at once. I’m a born ‘collector’ myself. I love the feeling of building a collection, and that’s what we’ll all be able to do here. We’re giving ‘Instant Grat’ tracks away with every purchase too … so you don’t have to wait for everything. I hope this is fun for you folks – I do read your feedback – let me know your thoughts. Ok? I’m always willing to listen and learn.”
