Sammy Hagar is planning something big for the ongoing California fires — he has bigger plans than just donating money.
The rocker took to social media to both talk about the fires and pay tribute to the late Sam Moore. “I know there’s so much heartbreak and devastation going on in southern California right now, but I have to share the passing of Sam Moore. The original soul man has left us to join his many brothers and sisters in the afterlife,” he wrote in the caption of his post.
The Red Rocker added, “This once in a lifetime experience I had rehearsing in Las Vegas for the wonderful Cleveland Clinic Nevada & Keep Memory Alive event is one of the highlights of my musical collaborations. Here in his mid 80s that voice, that voice, that voice. rest in peace, soul, brother. Love and prayers to Joyce and the family.”
A user in comments told Hagar to donate money for those who lost their homes and families. Hagar replied, “I will do much more than that. Coming up.”
At least 16 people are reported to have died, 13 are missing, and over 12,000 structures have been damaged in the ongoing fires. Rock musicians like Brad Wilk and Larry LaLonde also lost their homes to the fires. Wilk wrote in an Instagram post, “Thanks to everyone reaching out. We are good, but had to evacuate last night. Hosed down the house and grabbed the humans and animals and split…. Oh, I did grab one thing from the house… this VH ‘Woman And Children First’ o.g. tee… very apropos. Everybody please be careful and stay safe.”
Primus guitarist LaLonde added in another post, “Well, we were bouncing around different ideas to remodel our home, but ultimately the Palisades fire decided on a more ‘open’ floor plan. My mind is still trying to convince me this whole thing is real. As the losses in this fire trickle into my brain, it feels like being hit with a bag of rocks over and over, but the people around us make me feel like the luckiest mother f*cker on the planet.”
CalFire has published an Evacuation Guide to help residents stay safe during emergencies. The guide offers practical advice on preparing for evacuations, dealing with power outages, and managing animal safety. It also provides critical instructions for situations where evacuation may not be possible.
