Brian ‘Head’ Welch recently provided an update on Korn’s long-awaited 15th album. He revealed the band’s current perspective on their album release schedule in an interview with Loudwire.

The guitarist discussed how the band is embracing the extended break between albums and their current priorities.

“I really love the fact that it’s taking a long time. I always told management that I wish that we would wait a little bit between albums,” Welch said. “We’re just so addicted to the studio that we get in there and we’re putting albums out every two or three years, ever since I rejoined. And so I love that there’s been delays.”

Welch explained the band’s current focus and how their extensive catalog allows them flexibility with new releases.

“We’re a fortunate band, we’ve been around for a while and we’ve got an extensive catalog with a lot of well-known songs. We’re focusing right now on our live show,” he continued. “It feels like we don’t even need a new album. Everything’s just going so well, but that’s not to say we’re not going to find some time to go in again. I feel like it’s not priority right now.”

The comments suggest Korn is taking a more relaxed approach to their recording schedule while concentrating on their live performances.

This shift in priorities comes as the band continues to tour with their current lineup. The lineup has remained stable in recent years. Wikipedia reported that their current lineup features Welch on guitar alongside James “Munky” Shaffer, Jonathan Davis on vocals, and Ray Luzier on drums.

The band’s decision to slow down their album release cycle marks a departure from their previous pattern. Since Welch’s return to the band in 2013, Korn has maintained a consistent recording schedule. They released albums every two to three years as he mentioned in his recent comments.

Korn’s extensive touring schedule continues to be a priority for the group. The band has upcoming performances scheduled, including their appearance at Sick New World in Las Vegas on April 25, 2026. This demonstrates their commitment to live performances over studio work at this time.

The nu-metal pioneers have built a substantial catalog over their decades-long career. This gives them the luxury of taking breaks between studio albums. Their established fanbase and extensive collection of well-known songs allows them to focus on delivering memorable live experiences rather than rushing to produce new material.
