It turns out the feelings are mutual between the U2 musicians, as frontman Bono admits in their upcoming Disney+ documentary ‘A Kind Of Homecoming’ reported by the Daily Mail that he agrees with The Edge. Bono reveals that he and the rest of the band have considered leaving the band at one point, but his determination to right the band’s next big hit is deterring him from that final decision.

Previously The Edge had shared that he desired to leave the band when the friction between him and Bono became too intense; however, he always changed his mind. Even Bono himself had shared that the band was constantly breaking up and getting back together between themselves. Hence, his recent thoughts about whether to continue with U2 are a joint discussion.

The main reason that Bono can’t seem to let go of U2 is the mere fact that with the friendship they have built, he has this inkling that they have to write and produce songs they haven’t tried before, and even though he knows that he often tests their patience, it’s still worth a shot.

Bono’s words about the thought of quitting U2 read:

“I have certainly thought about walking away from U2; every member has. We have all thought about it. It is the right instinct to question whether this should continue and what it demands of all four members.”

“But the reason why I want to go forward is that something is stirring in my voice and my singing and the desire to write songs we don’t have yet. We are chasing the dragon of the song we can’t get.”

He added:

“The real magic of U2 is that everything we needed, the people we needed, were always right there. Friendship is deeply part of who we are, but you could lose that along the way. We had to work on it.”

“If you are in a rock and roll band, you don’t want to be in the photograph with some people who might have polarizing opposite values you hold dear, and I did that to them. I am turning what we created as a band into a currency I chose to spend in these areas. By and large, they support me, but I do know I test their patience.”

After the documentary’s release, U2’s next release will be ‘Songs of Surrender,’ an album of 40 re-recorded and reinterpreted songs from the band’s back catalog, on March 17. The band will also perform several concerts in Las Vegas called ‘U2: UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere’ in honor of the grand opening of MSG Sphere at The Venetian, so you might want to get your tickets ready.
