Former Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer recently addressed rumors about a potential reunion of the band’s classic lineup to support Mötley Crüe on their upcoming tour. He shared his thoughts in an interview with The Hair Metal Guru.
Blotzer discussed what he perceived as Nikki Sixx’s indirect message to Ratt regarding their participation in the tour plans.
“I heard that from people. I think I saw something Nikki [Sixx, Mötley Crüe bassist] wrote [on social media] — I can’t remember — he’s going, ‘Yeah, we’re trying to get bands [to join us on tour]. We’re going round and round and round,'” Blotzer said. “And if that’s not a direct, like, ‘Get your shit together or f*ck off’ to Ratt, I don’t know what is. But that is a ticket that needs to happen, I think.”
The drummer expressed enthusiasm for the potential pairing of the two bands despite current relationships within Ratt.
“I don’t know, man. I’m not friends with those guys anymore — for no reason other than everybody’s gone different ways. But it would be insane to have Mötley and Ratt go out,” he continued. “That would be a great double bill, for sure. People would love to see that.”
Blotzer also revealed his personal motivation for wanting a reunion. He connected it to a significant milestone in his career.
“I need it. It’s closure. I wanna say goodbye to the fans [who gave us] so much for so long. I just — I wouldn’t say ‘celebrated’, but last week was 44 years since I joined Ratt, and that’s when my son was born,” he said. “He was one month old when I officially joined Ratt March 12th of ’82.”
Blotzer’s comments come as Mötley Crüe has already finalized their supporting acts for the highly anticipated tour. This makes a Ratt reunion increasingly unlikely for this particular opportunity.
Live Nation reported that Mötley Crüe’s “The Return of Carnival of Sins” tour kicks off July 17, 2026, and runs through September 26, 2026, spanning 33 North American cities. The tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of the original 2005-2006 Carnival of Sins tour and the band’s 45th anniversary.
The opening show takes place at The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, PA. Subsequent dates include Buffalo, NY on July 18, Clarkston, MI on July 20, and continue through cities like Dallas, Houston, and Kansas City before concluding in Ridgefield, WA. Live For Live Music confirmed that Tesla and Extreme will serve as the supporting acts for the tour. This effectively closes the door on any potential Ratt participation.
The reimagined show features an updated setlist drawing from Mötley Crüe’s storied career. Mötley Crüe’s official website noted that $1 from every ticket sold will be donated to ASAP through the Mötley Crüe Giveback Initiative. Ticket sales began with an artist pre-sale on November 19, 2025. General on-sale followed on November 21, 2025.
The missed opportunity highlights the ongoing challenges facing classic rock bands attempting reunions. Internal disputes and fractured relationships complicate what could be lucrative touring opportunities. For Blotzer, who marked 44 years with Ratt in March 2026, the desire for closure with fans remains unfulfilled as the band continues to navigate its complex internal dynamics.
