Bob Dylan Starts Working On His Biopic Choosing Timothée Chalamet To Play Him

As it was recently confirmed by the director James Mangold, Bob Dylan has been still working on his biopic, ‘Going Electric,’ starring Timothée Chalamet in the leading role as the young Dylan.

Back in January 2020, Searchlight Pictures reached a deal on a Bob Dylan biopic which will star Chalamet and be directed by James Mangold. The film explores and documents a significant period of Dylan’s life; the time he decided to give up his traditional folk sound and move to the rock genre.

Dylan was very meticulous in every detail of the biopic and was also closely working with the director. However, later on, the cinematographer of the film, Phedon Papamichael, explained that the project was delayed due to the current pandemic. He didn’t say the biopic was totally dead, but he admitted that it will take more time than expected.

As the movie needed period-specific costumes and settings, it would be a big challenge to do it during the pandemic. Chalamet had already begun taking guitar lessons and he had also posted Dylan songs and lyrics in his social media accounts. It looks like the latest news will make the fans very excited as the movie may come out soon.

James Mangold confirmed that the Dylan biopic is still in the making process, and Bob Dylan will also be the project’s executive producer. It is very gratifying to learn that the film is not entirely canceled so that we will have a chance to watch this special period in Dylan’s longtime music career.
