During a recent conversation with Made In Metal, the former Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley expressed the impact of negative comments on him and his music.

Over the years, the rocker has been receiving negative comments about his place in Iron Maiden and his voice, with some claiming he can’t sing. Despite some of the ruthless comments, Bayley still managed to sing in Maiden for five years and even formed his own band later on.

Talking about his experience with haters, the rocker shared:

“I’m very lucky that I experienced this in my life, that when I nearly lost my leg in a motorcycle accident, when I joined Iron Maiden, I managed to fight back. They said to me, ‘You’ll probably never walk again.’ And I said, ‘You don’t know me.’ So somebody said to me, ‘You’re just not a good singer.’ Somebody else said, ‘You can’t sing.’ Somebody else said, ‘You’re never gonna make it.’ I said, ‘I don’t care what you say. You don’t know me.’ And that is what I think some people don’t know. You don’t have to listen.”

Being A Singer Is A Dream Come True For Bayley

Following the interview, the rocker talked about dreams and goals. He reminisced about his childhood dream: To become a singer. Despite the negative comments, Bayley says he considers himself fortunate for being able to fulfill his dream to be a singer and to live it daily.

The former frontman also gave some tips to people with dreams of achieving success in a certain field. He advised people to strive to find the fulfilling space because that’s where they would experience contentment.

Bayley’s Contributions to Iron Maiden

Bayley served as the frontman for Iron Maiden from 1994 to 1999. The two albums he contributed to, ‘The X Factor’ and ‘Virtual XI,’ experienced lower sales compared to the band’s previous releases, which marked their lowest chart positions in the UK since 1981’s ‘Killers.’ Since departing from the band in 1999, Bayley has launched various albums, including several under the name Blaze and numerous others under his own name.
