As a Southern California resident fighting against drought, Billy Idol recently discussed his commitment to water conservation in a chat with Spin. Speaking of the increasing issue, he said:
“If it continues, we won’t have gardens, fountains, anything cooling the climate down. It really is a desert without the water that Mulholland brought here.”
The singer explained his efforts to reduce water usage and went on:
“When I shampoo my hair, when I soap my body, I turn off the taps and turn them back again to wash it off. I found out the minimum water you need to wash your hands. You only need a little bit. You’re running the tap, and you don’t need to do that. I was experimenting and found out you can do a lot with a lot less. The drought is continuing. Personally, I take it seriously.”
In April, Idol played a show at the Hoover Dam to raise awareness about water conservation. He later revisited the matter on social media by collaborating with government officials.
Idol’s Attempts To Bring More Awareness

After the April show, recently released as a film, the ‘Dancing With Myself’ singer worked with The Interior Department officials to produce a video promoting the fight against drought, especially in the Colorado River Basin.
In the video shared on X, he explained:
“Across the country, the impact of the drought crisis is undeniable. I saw it myself during my recent visit to Hoover Dam. The work being done to turn things around is truly inspiring, but our government can’t do it alone, right?”
Asking others to take action, he added:
“Everyone has to play a part in protecting and conserving water, our planet’s most precious resource.”

.@BillyIdol gets it! The Colorado River Basin is the life source for countless communities who depend on it for drinking water and electricity. @Interior is working to make the Basin more resilient to climate change and drought, but everyone has a role in helping conserve water. pic.twitter.com/3awIv9pcnO
