Billy Idol Pays Tribute To The R&B Icon Lloyd Price Who Passed Away At The Age Of 88
Generation X frontman, musician, singer, and actor, Billy Idol expressed his respects to R&B legend Lloyd Prince who recently passed away at the age of 88 in his Twitter account.
Prince’s first recording ‘Lawdy Miss Clawdy’ was produced with Dave Bartholomew and Fats Domino in 1952. The song became one of the greatest selling R&B records and reached many different audiences from all around the world. ‘Lawdy Miss Clawdy’ inspired many songs of various artists.
He was also the singer and songwriter of the hits entitled ‘Personality’ and ‘Stagger Lee.’ After his million-sold hit ‘Personality’ which was released in 1959, Prince was nicknamed Mr. Personality. The single reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks.
Price’s wife Jacqueline confirmed that Prince died of diabetes at a long-term care facility in New Rochelle, New York on May 3, 2021. Therefore, Billy Idol paid tribute to the iconic R&B singer Lloyd Prince also known as Mr. Personality after getting the sad news via his Twitter. He emphasized his greatest hits such as ‘Lawdy Miss Clawdy’ and ‘Staggerlee’ along with his creation of Don King’s signature hairstyle.
