Billie Joe Armstrong Teases New Green Day Record

Lead vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong surprised the band’s fans by posting a video on Green Day’s official Instagram account, in which he was playing a part from their upcoming song, probably named ‘1972.’
Green Day released their latest and thirteenth studio album entitled ‘Father of All Motherfuckers’ on February 7, 2020. It attracted great attention due to the change in the band’s style, from their usual sound to garage rock, which they had started to embrace while working on their previous record. Its tracks, ‘Father of All…,’ ‘Fire, Ready, Aim,’ ‘Oh Yeah!,’ and ‘Meet Me on the Roof’ were highly successful.
Even though the band hasn’t made any announcements about their upcoming album until now, Green Day released ‘Here Comes the Shock’ on February 21, 2021, ‘Pollyanna’ on May 17, 2021, and their latest single named ‘Holy Toledo!’ on November 5. After they dropped these successful and popular singles, the band hinted at new music with a short video from their studio sessions in London without giving any details about it.
With a recent IG video, Billie Joe Armstrong teased the new Green Day record by performing it with his guitar, and the message featured in the footage read ‘1972.’ The release date and name of the record continue to remain unknown, but some fans claim that ‘1972’ is its name, which is also the year that Armstrong was born. Green Day fans expressed their views on the teaser and stated that they are highly excited and looking forward to listening to their newest material.
Here’s what a fan wrote under the Instagram video:
“I don’t know what this means, but I’m so excited.“
Another one added:
“Sounds promising.“
