Bad Omens frontman Noah Sebastian recently joined Metal Hammer for a candid interview about his discomfort with the social media hype. The singer, who abandoned all social media platforms last week, explained the reason behind his decision to delete his accounts on all platforms. Sebastian stated:

“I was trying to use my socials, and I just had to constantly mute them. I got really tired of seeing my own face, or seeing a stranger’s opinion of me every day. I don’t think that’s healthy.”

In addition to his discomfort over being under the spotlight, Noah mentioned the hypocritical nature of social media. Criticizing people’s false ethics, he added:

“I’ve seen these accounts that collect baby pictures of me they find on a distant relative’s Facebook and make an entire shrine out of them. It’s very one-sided, you know. If there was a female artist that I admired and I had a collection of pictures of her as an underage child, people would probably fucking try to put me in jail. It’d be weird, it’d be extremely inappropriate. It’s really funny how selective people are with their ethics.”

Sebastian Refuses To Attribute Bad Omens’ Success To TikTok Popularity

This was not the first time the Bad Omens singer shared his displeasure with social media platforms. In a previous interview with Revolver, Noah addressed the claims about Bad Omens owing their success to TikTok. The band’s song ‘Just Pretend’ went viral on TikTok, particularly among Gen Z. Sebastian refused to accept the connection between Bad Omens’ achievement and the viral TikTok video, and explained his point with proof:

“A lot of people that tried to doubt us or question us will attribute [our success] to TikTok. But that [U.S.] tour was 80 percent sold out before ‘Just Pretend’ hit TikTok.”

‘Just Pretend’ brought Bad Omens commercial success by hitting number one on many major charts. Although it’s unclear if the song owes its popularity to TikTok, it’s certain that ‘Just Pretend’ became a significant step in the band’s career.
