Avril Lavigne Shares The Advice She Gave To Olivia Rodrigo
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM, Avril Lavigne opened about when she first met Olivia Rodrigo. Lavigne also shared the advice she gave to Rodrigo regarding what tours are like.
Olivia Rodrigo released her debut studio album, ‘Sour,’ on May 21, 2021, which she recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown. The album mainly features energetic pop-punk songs and reflects the emotions Rodrigo experienced while growing up. The album was generally praised for its strong lyrical content and musical versatility. Avril Lavigne also expressed her admiration for Rodrigo after listening to her debut album.
Avril Lavigne praised the intense lyrics of the album and said that they truly reflect what it means to grow up. Avril Lavigne also congratulated Olivia Rodrigo for giving an honest voice to young women who are in the process of discovering themselves. The two also came together when Lavigne presented Rodrigo with the Songwriter Of The Year award at the Variety Hitmakers Brunch. The rocker also praised Rodrigo for reviving rock and roll despite her young age.
During the interview with SiriusXM, Avril Lavigne recalled her first meeting with Olivia Rodrigo and said they had a brief chat about how it is like being on tour. Rodrigo told her that she had never been on tour before, so she wondered how it would be. Thus, Lavigne explained to her what tours are like. Lavigne revealed that she advised her to go out with a friend if she thinks she will feel lonely because it will make the tour more fun.
Avril Lavigne talking about her advice to Olivia Rodrigo:
“We haven’t kept in touch or anything, but I met her, and she was absolutely lovely. She was telling me that she’d never been on tour before, and I was like, ‘Oh, sh*t, that’s crazy.’ I told her what tours are like and kind of what to expect. We were talking about that, and I was like, ‘If you’re lonely, take a friend out. It makes it more fun.'”
