Avenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows Explains Why He Loves Ghost’s ‘Elizabeth’

The journey has been long, but Ghost has come a long way under the guidance of frontman Tobias Forge. There’s no denying that the strategy has worked, as the mystery surrounding their identities had kept us on our toes. Besides us fans, other artists, including Avenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows, have been amazed by the band’s efforts so far. However, his pick for the best track, which he recently shared while speaking to Revolver, might come as a surprise because it is from their debut album.

“Something about the rawness and production of their debut, ‘Opus Eponymous,’ really drew me in,” Shadows explained before sharing his pick from the band’s discography. “‘Elizabeth’ is one of my favorite choruses of all time, juxtaposed with dark riffs and groove.”

‘Opus Eponymous’ came at the perfect time when the frontman was desperate for it to succeed, as he had been in the industry trying to make it for some time. Although it seemed crazy for this over-the-top band to work as well as it did, the metal community was apparently craving to watch a band that could bring the drama it had been missing.

Some would say Tobias Forge was at the right place at the right time, but others argue that the hard work Forge had previously put into every other project led him to the success and fame that came with Ghost. So it’s no surprise that M. Shadows was one of the people who got hooked to Ghost from the get-go with their debut album’s track ‘Elizabeth.’

If you’re a new fan of the band and you started listening to them after their most recent hit album release, ‘Impera,’ take a trip down memory and listen to their debut album. There are some gems you wouldn’t want to miss!
