Anthrax Drummer Charlie Benante Pays Respect To Joey Ramone

Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante shared a picture from a Megaforce Records party on his official Instagram page revealing his admiration for the late Ramones lead vocalist Joey Ramone by stating that he would always get nervous while talking to him despite the fact that Joey was always nice to Charlie.

As many of you know, despite the fact that Megaforce Records were founded in 1982 by Jon Zazula and his recently deceased wife Marsha Zazula to publish the first works of Metallica, they previously distributed by Atlantic Records while Anthrax’s recordings from 1985 to 1991 were marketed by Island Records.

Due to the fact that Megaforce Records were one of the most famous records company back then since they released the first, ‘Kill ‘Em All,‘ and second album,‘ Ride The Lightning’ of Metallica, once they throw a party it was quite possible for every legendary band of that time to join the party.

Just like expected, Charlie Benante shared an old picture from a Megaforce Records party on his official Instagram page with Joey Ramone and Anthrax original rhythm guitarist Scott Ian. Charlie expressed his appreciation for Joey Ramone by stating that he always loved him since he was a nice and talented person.

In addition to praising Ramone, Benante revealed that he would always anxious while he was talking to him for some reason. Along with some old memories, Charlie Benante also stated that he misses Ramones which dissolved back in 1996.

Here is what Benante said:

“Always loved Joey Ramone, just a nice, talented dude. I was always nervous when talking to him, I don’t know why? He was always so nice. I miss that band #theramones – this was at the #megaforcerecords party, thanks Jon Zazula for this pic.”

As you know, Joey Ramone passed away at the age of 49 following a seven-year battle with lymphoma in New York on April 15, 2001, a month before he would have turned 50.
