Mark Morton from Lamb of God celebrated 6 years clean after the addiction battle with a statement on X.

“I woke up this morning with 6 years clean & sober,” the guitarist wrote. “This comes after decades of drinking nearly every day & with the final 10 years of that compounded by an aggressively progressive opiate addiction that almost killed me.”

He went on to say, “I’m writing this just in case someone out there who feels as hopeless, helpless & crippled by addiction as I once did might read it & start to believe that recovery IS possible.”

“You can get clean & live a life beyond anything you’ve ever dreamed of. Find an alcoholic or addict living in recovery. Ask them what they did. You’re worth it,” Morton concluded his post.

In an appearance on Appetite for Distortion earlier this year, Morton talked about how Slash helped him get sober. The host mentioned that Slash discussed his efforts in his new book, ‘Desolation: A Heavy Metal Memoir.’

Then, the rocker said, “Yeah, there’s not much to it. I didn’t actually check with Slash before I wrote that part of the book. So I hope he doesn’t mind me sharing that story. Maybe I should have reached out but I don’t think it’s anything.”

“Slash has been pretty open about his experience with some of these things and so, when I was trying to get sober and well before I was able to accomplish any kind of sustained sobriety or recovery, Slash was very helpful. He’s very compassionate, very kind, and made himself available to me with some insight and perspective that he shared,” Mark added.

The musician had struggled with addiction to alcohol and opiates. Lamb of God’s latest album, ‘Omens,’ came out in 2022. This year, they performed at Hammersonic and Knotfest Australia.
