Former Arch Enemy singer and now manager Angela Gossow recently addressed the ongoing controversy involving Kiko Loureiro’s plagiarism claims against the band. She shared her perspective on the legal developments in a statement posted on Instagram.

Gossow’s comments came in response to Loureiro’s allegations that Arch Enemy’s new single “To The Last Breath” sounds similar to his solo track “Talking Dreams.” She clarified the timeline of events surrounding the legal action.

“Just to correct the overall narrative here: We got Kiko’s lawyer letter demanding compensation for copyright infringement the moment he posted his story.. way before I even made a comment,” Gossow said. “I am pretty chill, considering how silly and unnecessary this whole situation is.. could have easily been discussed in a calm, private conversation.”

The former vocalist emphasized her preference for resolving disputes without legal intervention.

“I am cool with a lot of strangers not liking me for whatever reason, but I am the last one who wants to involve lawyers,” she continued. “They make money, everyone else loses, in one way or another. Yeah, chill would be great, respect would be great, talking before acting would be great.”

This copyright dispute has escalated into a public feud between the former Megadeth guitarist and the Swedish metal band. Both sides have presented evidence to support their positions.

Blabbermouth reported that Loureiro initially made his accusations on March 27, posting on Instagram with a sarcastic message: “Just helping to promote the new song by @archenemyofficial… you’re welcome.” The former Megadeth guitarist claimed that portions of Arch Enemy’s new single shared similarities with his 2024 track “Talking Dreams” from his album Theory of Mind.

Arch Enemy responded decisively to the allegations by releasing video evidence that contradicted Loureiro’s timeline. Loudwire noted that the band provided computer file data showing that the disputed melody was recorded and uploaded as a demo on December 9, 2022, two years before Loureiro’s song was released. This evidence effectively undermined the copyright infringement claim by establishing prior creation.

Guitarist and main songwriter Michael Amott issued a direct statement addressing Loureiro’s accusations. “Hey Kiko, sorry to disappoint you and your lawyer, but as you can see and hear, I had the melody back in 2022 already, two years before you released your song,” Amott said, as documented by Metal Injection. “Any similarities are purely coincidental.”

The dispute centers around what both sides describe as minimal musical similarities. Louder Sound revealed that the alleged similarities involve “three notes” being the same between the two tracks. Gossow previously commented on the matter, stating: “To be honest, I’d never heard Kiko’s music before. So, three notes are the same? Well, I guess that happens quite often in music.”
