Cinderella frontman Tom Keifer has shared an update on his ongoing vocal injury, thanking fans for their support in a new post. The update comes less than a month after Keifer canceled the final three shows of his 2026 solo tour due to a severe vocal muscle strain that left him unable to sing.
In his message, Keifer detailed the extent of his injury and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support he has received from fans.
“I can’t express how much your kind words, prayers and well wishes have meant to me over the past few weeks following my vocal injury,” Keifer said. “The injury I sustained requires an extended period of rest, with no singing before being reevaluated. I’m taking things one day at a time and will keep you updated.”
He went on to reflect on the tour that was cut short by the injury, acknowledging the disappointment of ending on a difficult note while still praising the overall experience.
“Many thanks to everyone for an amazing tour this year,” Keifer continued. “While the cancellation of the last 3 shows due to my injury was not quite the note we were hoping to end on, Keifer Band 2026 was an incredible tour thanks to the energy and enthusiasm you all brought to every show.”
Keifer closed his message with a note of determination and appreciation for the encouragement he’s received throughout his recovery.
“The prayers and encouragement are greatly appreciated and your comments have been truly uplifting… I am determined to -RISE+ and overcome,” he said. “Much love to all.”
The setback marks the latest chapter in a health battle that has followed Keifer for decades. It also sheds light on just how serious this current injury may be.
The three canceled dates were the July 30 show in Glenside, Pennsylvania, the August 1 performance at Rock The Dam in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, and the August 3 stop in Houston, Texas. The Houston date had already been postponed once earlier this year before it was scrapped entirely due to the vocal injury.
Keifer’s vocal troubles are not new. He was diagnosed with vocal cord paresis, a form of vocal cord paralysis, back in 1991, an issue that specifically affected his left vocal cord. He has since undergone multiple surgeries, including as many as six procedures tied to collateral damage caused by singing through the condition over the years.
The timing of this latest injury also carries weight beyond Keifer’s solo career. Cinderella drummer Fred Coury recently gave the green light to a potential Cinderella reunion. However, he made clear that any such plans hinge entirely on Keifer’s health and recovery.
“Everybody’s getting older, so… And then, unfortunately, Tom had this setback,” Coury said, referencing the vocal injury that sidelined Keifer’s tour.
No timeline has been given for when Keifer will be reevaluated or cleared to sing again. Both his solo career and any future Cinderella plans remain on hold. Further updates are expected as his recovery continues.
