Former Arch Enemy singer Alissa White-Gluz has announced her new band, Blue Medusa, following her departure from Arch Enemy. She shared details about her new project on Instagram.
White-Gluz explained that this new venture represents a significant creative step for her.
“The year of the snake is finally over – now it’s time to shed the skin. Today, on International Women’s Day, I’m proud to announce my new band: BLUE MEDUSA.”
She further described the project as a culmination of her artistic journey, allowing for unhindered creative expression.
“After twenty years performing on the world’s biggest stages, I’m entering a new creative chapter. Blue Medusa is the next evolution of everything I’ve been building toward: a project where my full artistic vision can exist without limits. You’ll hear blazing guitar solos, crushing riffs, brutal vocals, fast and aggressive drums, thoughtful melodies, and deeply introspective lyrics layered with meaning.”
The lineup for Blue Medusa includes Alyssa Day and Dani Sophia on guitars, with Delaney Jaster on drums and Alicia Vigil on bass for live performances.
White-Gluz stated her intention to support women in the music industry.
“I chose to share this news on International Women’s Day because building stronger platforms for women in heavy music is something I care deeply about. I’ve been carving my own path in this genre for a long time, and I want to help pave the road for the next generation of women who love metal as much as I do. Medusa turned people to stone… I want to pave the road in sapphire. New music is coming soon. First live appearances: Louder Than Life and Aftershock.”
New music from Blue Medusa is expected soon, with initial live performances scheduled for Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals.
The mythological figure of Medusa, a Gorgon from Greek mythology, is often depicted as a monstrous woman with snakes for hair who could turn onlookers to stone. Her imagery has been reinterpreted in various artistic and cultural contexts.
Arch Enemy underwent a major lineup change after longtime vocalist Alissa White-Gluz departed the group in November 2025 following more than a decade with the band. Both the band and the singer confirmed the split in statements, thanking each other for their time together and signaling a new chapter ahead. White-Gluz had fronted Arch Enemy since 2014, when she replaced former vocalist Angela Gossow.
The band announced Lauren Hart—formerly the singer of Once Human—as the band’s new lead vocalist. Hart debuted with the group on the single “To the Last Breath,” marking the first release of the band’s new era after White-Gluz’s departure. Known for her powerful growls and melodic range, Hart brings extensive experience from the modern metal scene as Arch Enemy moves forward with new music and touring plans.
