A medical emergency involving drummer Sean Kinney forced Alice In Chains to cancel their performance at Mohegan Sun Arena. The band shared this announcement through an official statement on X (formerly Twitter).
The band issued their announcement following the venue’s soundcheck. They assured fans that while the situation required immediate attention, it was not life-threatening.
“After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency,” the band stated. “We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.”
This unexpected cancellation impacts the band’s touring schedule significantly.
Loudwire reported that this show would have launched their new tour. It was set to be their first performance since playing at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas in April 2024.
Kinney has remained a cornerstone of Alice In Chains since the band’s formation in 1987. His distinctive drumming style has shaped the band’s sound throughout their career, leaving an indelible mark on iconic albums like ‘Dirt’ and ‘Jar of Flies.’
The PRP noted that the band’s schedule includes several headlining and festival dates through May 2025. They are also slated to perform in the UK this July as part of Black Sabbath’s ‘Back to the Beginning’ reunion show.
Metal Injection confirmed that no updates about Kinney’s condition have emerged beyond the initial statement. Ticket holders can obtain refunds for the canceled show from their original point of purchase.
