Alex Van Halen shared a post on Instagram for his late brother Eddie Van Halen’s death anniversary.
“Miss you, Ed,” the drummer wrote in the caption of his post along with a photo of Eddie. Alex rarely posts on social media. He mostly does it when it’s an important day related to Eddie.
The late guitarist’s son Wolfgang Van Halen also shared a photo with his father on Instagram. He didn’t write anything in the caption. Alex replied with red heart emojis.
His widow Janie Van Halen wrote on Instagram, “Some count how long you have been gone, I count how long until I am with you again.
I love you and miss you so very much.”
Last month, Alex posted a short clip of Eddie’s last song, ‘Unfinished,’ on Instagram. The drummer added a caption about the release date of his upcoming autobiography, “‘Brothers,’ 10/22. ‘Unfinished’ by Alex and Edward Van Halen.”
Along with the song, Alex shared some childhood photos and pictures of their parents when they were young. He also included a photo from the early days of Van Halen with Eddie and David Lee Roth.
The audiobook of Alex’s new memoir, ‘Brothers,’ will feature the last song he wrote with his late brother. The song will play while Alex tells his story. ‘Brothers’ is called a ‘love letter’ to Eddie.
“This is my tribute to my brother; my way of saying goodbye,” Alex previously said of the book. “Ed, I love you and miss you. When I see you again, I’m gonna kick your a**!”
“I was with him from day one. We shared the experience of coming to this country and figuring out how to fit in. We shared a record player, an 800-square-foot house, a mom and dad, and a work ethic,” the drummer also shared.
He added, “Later, we shared the back of a tour bus, alcoholism, the experience of becoming famous, of becoming fathers and uncles, and of spending more hours in the studio than I’ve spent doing anything else in this life. We shared a depth of understanding that most people can only hope to achieve in a lifetime.”
The 384-page book shares their story from childhood until Eddie’s death in 2020. Alex’s autobiography will arrive this month, on October 22.
