The former Kiss rocker Ace Frehley has tried to get on good terms with his former bandmate Paul Stanley, but apparently, it backfired.

In a new interview with Classic Rock, Frehley responded to the recent conflict with Stanley in the interview, during which the latter mentioned that if the guitarist and the original Kiss drummer Peter Criss were to join them onstage for their farewell performance at Madison Square Garden in December 2023, the band might as well rename themselves ‘Piss.’ He recalled:

“I was very pissed off at what he said about calling the group Piss. Come on, I’ve been making albums and touring for years, I could get up and play two or three Kiss songs flawlessly. But for some reason, he insulted me, and I called him out on it. I said, ‘I demand an apology.’ He called me up and said, ‘F*ck you, Ace, I’m not giving you an apology’ and hung up. He wouldn’t even give me the chance to give him a rebuttal or talk to him. Prior to that, me and Paul would talk on the phone three or four times a year.”

Despite the public feuds and conflicts, Frehley still considers himself friends not only with Stanley but with Simmons too:

“I consider myself friends [with Simmons and Stanley]. We’re just like brothers. Brothers have arguments, brothers have misunderstandings, they curse each other out and then they make up.”

Frehley And Stanley’s Earlier Feuds

Known to have long-lasting feuds, the trio have publicly criticized one another throughout their career. Still, on Stanley’s birthday, Frehley shared a public message for his ‘one and only’ former bandmate.

Though Frehley went on to celebrate Stanley’s birthday on his social media accounts, during an interview, he voiced criticism regarding Stanley’s singing skills and shared his bewilderment at not receiving an invitation to Kiss’ recent concert at Madison Square Garden.

During the Howard Stern Show, the musician also asserted that Stanley was envious of his musical success and expressed uncertainty about how Stanley would react to his latest solo album, ‘10,000 Volts.’
