30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto opened up about addiction in a recent interview. During his interview with Apple Music 1, the singer revealed that he grew up in an environment filled with drugs, which affected his life in his early years. Leto shared his experience, how it led to an addiction, and how he had an epiphany afterward.

The singer admitted his interest in exploring different substances during his childhood. He said:

“I never had a ‘no’ for any of that stuff. I was always interested in that. I was always interested in drugs, I was always interested in an experience. I was always interested in taking some risk. And I think that’s probably common for people that like to experiment or explore probably some common things.”

He then explained the ‘epiphany’ that helped him stop using:

“I had a moment of clarity. I had an epiphany. There were two paths that I could take in life… I guess it’s the only way I can describe it. And I took that path, and I’ve had very close friends that didn’t. And they’re not here anymore. Many.”

The actor acknowledged the risks of addiction, saying that he took it for a ride, and then it took him for a ride.

Apparently, Leto didn’t have any ambitions of stardom as a teenager and imagined himself as an artist or drug dealer. Growing up, the actor’s fame rose, and so did his experience with drugs. His addiction made him realize they prevented him from pursuing his dreams. The rocker shared that although they were fun, he ‘saw too many examples of what not to do.’
