Mötley Crüe Receive Backlash For Signing To Country Label That Ripped Off Taylor Swift

You might have heard that Mötley Crüe recently signed up with Big Machine Records before their new single, ‘Dogs of War.’ This deal marks a fresh start for the Crüe. However, Big Machine Records turned out to be the label that ripped off Taylor Swift.

The rockers shared the news on their social media accounts but got mixed reactions. One user said they didn’t understand why they would sign up to Swift’s old label:

“The one Taylor Swift was signed to? The one that stole all her music? Uh oh… well I can’t wait for ‘Girls Girls Girls’ (Mötley’s version).”

Another said Big Machine Records was simply not a good label:

“Big machine is the worst label in the world, I miss the old Crüe.”

While some were upset about the band signing up to the same label as Swift for certain reasons, others were concerned Mötley Crüe was going country since it’s a ‘country music label’:

“Nobody batting an eyelid that Motley Crue have signed to a country music label? No?”

Another user added:

“So is Motley going country now?! This label move makes no sense.”

Swift vs. Big Machine Records

On June 30, 2019, Swift got into a fight with her old record label, its founder Scott Borchetta, and its new owner Scooter Braun. They argued over who owned the rights to her first six albums.

Before this, Swift had already left Big Machine Records and signed with Republic Records in November 2018 once her Big Machine contract was up. Then, Braun bought Big Machine from Borchetta for $330 million. This meant Braun now owned all the rights to the music, music videos, and artwork of Swift’s first six albums.

Swift said she tried to buy back her music from Big Machine but they didn’t give her a fair deal. Borchetta, however, said Swift had turned down a chance to buy back her music.

Eventually Swift responded to all of this by re-releasing her first six albums. She released the albums under the title ‘Taylor’s Version’ and took control of her music.
