Jack White Finds Olympic Medal Names ‘Ridiculous’ And Wants To Change Them

Jack White took to Instagram and shared his thoughts on this year’s Olympics medals’ names.

The rocker seems to be annoyed by their titles. Instead of the original gold, silver, and bronze, the medals were named super silver, silver, and lesser silver this year. In the Instagram post, he wrote that describing the medals by their colors or their elemental names rather than their relation to the second-place trophy needs to ‘finally stop.’ He even added he was starting a petition:

“I’m starting a petition soon to permanently change the names of the medals at the Olympic Games from here on out. The ridiculous need to describe the medals by their metallic colors or their elemental names rather than their relation to the second place trophy has got to finally stop. Much like the metric system’s use of powers of 10, we need a baseline. Let’s try to change this for the better and use Silver as the Standard and base the other medal names off of that, who’s with me?”

What People Think Of White’s Comments

White is known to share the things he finds ridiculous on social media and make serious statements about it.

While White did seem serious about this one matter too, some users didn’t take him seriously. One person commented:

“Of all the things to worry about in the world, this is your hill?”

As a response, the singer explained he was serious about it with just one word:

“Yep.”

However, some agreed with White’s comments about the medals. One user wrote:

“Finally someone is speaking out. This has been weighing on me a long time.”

Another said:

“I’m glad someone is finally saying this.”
