ZZ Top Bassist Dusty Hill Has Passed Away, See Frank And Billy’s Farewell
Dusty Hill, the bassist for ZZ Top, died on July 28 at the age of 72. His bandmates Frank Beard and Billy Gibbons announced his death on the band’s Instagram account and said their goodbyes.
ZZ Top is a world-famous band known for its members’ long beards, dark sunglasses, and humorous lyrics, and the three members have been together since 1970. The vocalist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard and late bassist Dusty Hill have played together for over 50 years, and they have won multiple VMAs thanks to their 4 gold, 3 platinum, and one diamond-certified albums.
On July 23, 2021, an announcement was posted on ZZ Top’s official website stating that bassist Dusty Hill had to return to his house in Texas because of a hip problem and that they hoped he would make a speedy recovery.
Sadly, on July 28, they announced the death of their friend and bandmate through the band’s official Instagram account. Frank Beard and Billy Gibbons stated their sadness to see Hill pass away but, they did not state the cause of his death.
Here is what they said in their Instagram post:
“We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature, and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top.’ We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C.’

ZZ Top members have achieved a lot of things together and according to their fans, this seems like an end of an era. Their followers also stated their sadness and grief for the death of Hill, thanked him for all the great things he has done for rock music, and labeled him as a ‘legend.’
