Zakk Wylde Updates Ozzy Osbourne’s Current Health Status

During a recent appearance on The Cassius Morris Show, Black Label Society’s Zakk Wylde opened up about Ozzy Osbourne‘s current health status. According to the guitarist, the Prince of Darkness is doing everything that doctors tell him to do in order to start touring again.

Black Sabbath icon Ozzy Osbourne has experienced a number of health problems for the past few years. The rocker’s health issues hindered his music career for the first time when he was hospitalized due to flu complications, postponing the European leg of his ‘No More Tours 2’ tour, on February 6, 2019.

By February 12, 2019, Osbourne had been moved to intensive care. Tour promoters Live Nation published a statement, saying that they were hopeful that the musician would come back healthy enough to finish the tour dates in Australia and New Zealand in March.

Unfortunately, the rocker later canceled the tour entirely, and ultimately all shows were scheduled for 2019, especially after sustaining serious injuries from a fall in his Los Angeles home while still recovering from pneumonia.

At that same time, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease which was publicly revealed in January 2020. One month later, the musician canceled the 2020 North American tour, seeking treatment in Switzerland until April.

Since he suffered from various health issues, Ozzy Osbourne was psychologically affected by staying away from performing. However, the rocker is determined to follow his doctor’s orders to get back on stage as his longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde revealed during a recent interview.

Apparently, Wylde has been constantly calling Osbourne to make sure he’s well. The Prince of Darkness is taking his time to fully recover from all the health issues he has been suffering, and his guitarist is hopeful for the ‘No More Tours 2.’

Wylde’s statement regarding Osbourne’s current situation follows:

“I text him just to make sure he’s doing OK. He’s working out and everything like that, doing everything that doctors tell him to do as far as therapy and everything to get his neck and everything like that better and back on track.

He wants to get back out and start touring again. The last show we did was going into 2019 New Year’s Eve at The Forum, and we had a blast. I was like, ‘Man, maybe we should do this every year!’

He was super pumped for that and that’s where it ended. The game plan is obviously to get him back up and running again, so we can go back out and start playing again, doing what he loves.”

When asked if there’ll be ‘No More Tours 2,’ Wylde said:

“Yeah, of course. I said to Oz, ‘Just wait until you’re ready. There’s no sense in rushing it.’ As soon as they announced that Oz is going to be doing some shows, everyone’s going to go to the show.

I’m just like, ‘Oz, everybody loves you. I don’t think you have anything to worry about. When you’re ready and you feel like you’re ready to get back up on the lifting platform for your bench, your squat, your deadlifts, then we’ll go do what we gotta do.'”
