Zakk Wylde discussed the upcoming Ozzy Osbourne’s final show in an interview with MetalXS.
“Considering all the bands that are on that thing and everybody’s gonna be playing Sabbath songs, it’s gonna be pretty mindblowing,” Wylde said. “It’s gonna be pretty awesome.”
“And then to see Ozz get up there and do a song with ’em and then watch Sabbath play,” he continued. “I think for all the bands that are gonna be there, ’cause if it wasn’t for Sabbath none of us would exist. So I think it’s gonna be special for everybody.”
The announcement heightens anticipation for this historic moment in heavy metal history. Multiple generations of musicians influenced by Black Sabbath’s legacy will come together for this special event.
Ozzy.com reveals the event’s title as “Back to the Beginning.” The show will take place on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham. The original Black Sabbath members will perform together for the first time in two decades.
The lineup features legendary acts including Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, and Alice in Chains. Each band will perform their own tribute to Black Sabbath’s influential catalog.
The event organizers have dedicated all profits to charitable causes. These include Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.
The concert holds special significance through its location. Birmingham, the birthplace of both Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, provides a fitting venue for this momentous conclusion to their journey.
