Zakk Wylde Reveals How Black Label Society Inspired By Led Zeppelin On Their New Album

Black Label Society lead singer, Zakk Wylde unveiled how Led Zeppelin influenced them in their new album ‘The Song Remains Not the Same, Vol. 2’ in an interview with SiriusXM’s Ozzy’s Boneyard show.

As you have already known, the first volume of their latest album, ‘The Song Remains Not the Same’ was released on May 10, 2011. It consisted of the covers of different musicians’ and bands’ songs and along with the acoustic version of Black Label Society’s eighth studio album, ‘Order of the Black.’ The band’s acoustic and cover album became very popular and got positive critics.

Ten years later from their successful project, Black Label Society decided to release volume 2 of their acoustic and cover album as part of their new box set, ‘None More Black.’ The box set includes all studio albums of the band, bonus tracks, and reworked originals viny entitled ‘Song Remains Not The Same Vol. 2.’ The name of the album appreciated by both the band’s and Led Zeppelin fans once more.

During his appearance, Zakk Wylde drew attention to the name of their newest album entitled ‘The Song Remains Not the Same, Vol. 2.’ They inspired the name from Led Zeppelin’s iconic live soundtrack album, ‘The Song Remains the Same’ which was released on September 28, 1976. Wylde stated that this idea was funny and witty because actually, they were the same songs but performed in a different way.

Here’s what he told:

“Totally. That’s why it’s called ‘The Song Remains Not the Same.’ You see, what I thought. Huge Zeppelin fans and everything like that because we are funny like that. And clever because people are like wow that’s really witty, that’s like really ‘The Song Remains the Same.’ That’s Led Zeppelin. Then we came up with ‘The Song Remains Not the Same’ because it is still the same song but it’s not the same. And we are like wow that’s quite ingenious and I told my wife. I said this is part of the package.”
