Yungblud Announces The Cancelation Of His Upcoming Shows In Russia

Yungblud recently shared a post on his official Twitter account to reveal that he decided not to perform any concert in Russia for now because of Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine, which made everyone sad and worried about the civilians. The singer also shared a heartwarming message in support of Ukrainians.

The Russian government started a conventional warfare operation against Ukraine due to the country’s close relationships with the United Nations and NATO. There has always been tension between the two countries, but President Putin’s last action received backlash and limited sanctions from different governments worldwide. Many people shared supportive messages for the Ukrainian people and criticized Putin.

In addition, many artists targeted the Russian government’s actions, and some of them released statements about the ongoing intervention while others wanted to take action against it. For instance, Green Day, One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, AJR, Health, and Yungblud canceled their upcoming concerts in Russia. Yungblud was supposed to perform two shows on May 25 and 26, 2022, but he recently announced his ultimate decision about it.

In his tweet, Yungblud highlighted that he couldn’t perform in Russia under these circumstances even though he feels heartbroken about not meeting his fans there. He added that this is not about good people of Russia who are also against war and protesting their government. Then, the singer praised Ukrainians’ strength and determination to protect their country from ‘this needless invasion,’ and he stated that his heart will always be with them.

Yungblud’s tweet read:

“I’m heartbroken to announce I will be canceling my Russian shows scheduled for this summer. Heartbroken because I know the vicious and brutal acts of the Russian regime in Ukraine over the past week do not reflect the attitudes and ideals of the beautiful people I have met in Russia in the past!

To the people of Ukraine, a country I’ve spent time in and have dear friends in, you’ve already shown such strength and determination, resisting this needless invasion. Everyone deserves to be the creator of their own destiny, rather than having it forced upon them by acts of war and aggression. Ukraine, I promise I’ll come back as soon as I can! My heart is with you, always.”
