Wolfgang Van Halen Wants To Prove That He’s Not A Kid Anymore, ‘My Fans Tend To View Me As Their Kid’

In his recent interview with People, Mammoth WVH founder Wolfgang Van Halen talked about his father Eddie by praising his extraordinary talent. He also emphasized that he wanted to pursue a different and unique musical career so that he won’t be the copy of his father.
As you might know, Wolfgang Van Halen started to pursue a solo career and founded his solo band Mammoth WVH after the death of his father Eddie. He released his debut studio album, ‘Mammoth WVH,’ on June 11, 2021. With the release of his successful work, Wolf aimed to prove that he wasn’t just the son of Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli.
Wolfgang revealed that his father supported his career by recalling his words, ‘my son is the greatest musician in the world’ in one of his previous interviews. Eddie also wanted him to find his own unique style of playing and writing. Wolfgang clearly stated that he won’t follow the steps of his father even if he was the Mozart of their generation.
During a recent interview, Wolf Van Halen highlighted that most people followed him because of who his parents are, however, he mentioned that he will pursue his own music career to prove to everyone that he is so much more than only being the son of Van Halen legend. Wolf stated that his upcoming projects will be proof of his decision about creating his own style of playing, singing, and writing.
Wolfgang stated in the interview that:
“It’s exciting, my whole life I’ve just been the kid. I’m thankful for all the people that follow me and the fans, but most of them follow me because of who my parents are, so they tend to view me as their kid.
So I’m always a kid and I have to always be like, ‘Hey, I’m 30. I’m a grown man.’
I guess I’m proving that right now with this album – that I’m my own person. I’m not my dad, I’m my own person, I’m only going to prove that more and more with all the music I make.”
