Wolf Van Halen Shares Eddie’s Favorite AC/DC Song To Play And Explains Why He Loved It So Much
Former Van Halen bassist and current Mammoth WVH founder Wolfgang Van Halen opened up about the first time he was introduced to the legendary band AC/DC during an interview with Rocksverige, and apparently, it was when late guitarist Eddie Van Halen played the hilarious track ‘Big Balls’ to Wolfgang which was his favorite.
As some of you might recall, Wolfgang Van Halen recently revealed the first time he heard an AC/DC song during an appearance on Ask Anything Chat. The young musician told the story when he was in the second grade and took a family trip to Grand Canyon with his father Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli.
While they stopped somewhere since her mother needed to go to the bathroom, Eddie Van Halen played AC/DC’s hilarious track ‘Big Balls’ to the little Wolfgang Van Halen. That’s when the father and son cracked and laughed endlessly as Eddie Van Halen was enjoying the section where he sang along with vocalist Bon Scott the ‘Ooh’ part.
Here is what Wolfgang said:
“In second grade my parents took me out of school for a week. My dad rented a Winnebago, and we went to the Grand Canyon. I remember we stopped somewhere and my mom went to the bathroom, and Dad was like, ‘Wolf, come check this out.’
And he showed me the song ‘Big Balls’ by AC/DC… and that song made me laugh so hard. Bon Scott on that song going, ‘Ooh,’ was something that my dad and I really bonded over. We loved that. So that might be one of my earliest memories of a favorite song.”
During a recent interview, former Van Halen bassist was asked about this heartwarming and funny story he had with his father and Wolfgang once again revealed that his legendary guitarist father Eddie Van Halen loved singing along to ‘Big Balls’ by AC/DC for some reason and the two had a great time as late Van Halen guitarist was singing the ‘Ooouuh’ part.
Here is what the interviewer said:
“There’s the story of your dad playing you AC/DC’s ‘Big Balls.’ It’s so funny. Of all the AC/DC songs to play, he picked that one.”
Here is what Wolfgang Van Halen said:
“Oh, he also loved… his favorite thing to do was Bon Scott in that song, like ‘Ooouuuuh!’ He loved that and was always doing it. That’s the song it happens in, so…”
