The Reason Why James Hetfield Respects Lady Gaga
Metallica frontman James Hetfield once opened up about the infamous 2017 Grammy Awards show live performance during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show as well as his opinions on pop icon Lady Gaga to whom Hetfield respects as an artist.
There’s no doubt that most Metallica fans never imagined the band performing with a pop star on stage one of their songs, however, the unexpected happened on February 12, 2017, at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards and Metallica shared the same stage with Lady Gaga performing ‘Moth Into Flame’ from the band’s tenth studio album, ‘Hardwired… to Self-Destruct.’
What Went Wrong During Metallica And Lady Gaga’s Grammy Duet?
As many of you remember, the highly anticipated performance was one of the highlights of the night. However, not thanks to an epic performance just like it sounded in the dressed rehearsal but because of the fact that a tech guy left James Hetfield’s microphone off and he had to share the same mic with Lady Gaga throughout the whole performance.
On top of this, the performance started wrong right from the beginning since a disrespectful presenter didn’t mention the legendary Metallica’s name while announcing the performers which thrown the band members off even before start performing. Therefore, the rehearsals were just amazing and the outcome was a total disaster, James Hetfield looked extremely furious during the whole performance thus he kicked the microphone away and threw his guitar to a tech guy at the end.
Luckily, there is a whole video including the dressed rehearsal which is considered the original performance according to most Metallica fans to this day, and both Metallica members and Lady Gaga had an amazing time while working together prior to the unfortunate performance and the chemistry showing through during their first rehearsal was worth seeing for fans who doubted seeing the iconic band with Mother Monster.
Fans aren’t the only ones enjoying their combined artistry as James Hetfield revealed his opinions about the pop icon during an interview a year ago. Apparently, Hetfield respects Lady Gaga as an artist due to the fact that she’s remarkably creative in addition to being brave according to Metallica lead singer.
Metallica’s frontman can’t stop himself from praising the successful pop star and her work ethic since Gaga was ready to rehearse two hours before the band was even there, planning the performance and creating her moves on stage which was an act worthy of respect in the show business as well as a unique asset.
Here is what Hetfield said:
“I just respect her as an artist. She was there for two hours before we even got there, working on her moves and thinking stuff up. She is extremely creative and a fearless artist.“
