The post drew attention from former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony. He offered his support with an encouraging comment.

“You and your other selves are Rockin!” Michael Anthony responded.

The album “The End” is scheduled for release on October 24, 2025. Accompanying tour dates are expected to follow.

This latest announcement continues Wolfgang’s evolution as a solo artist. It builds on the foundation he established with his band’s previous work and family legacy.

Wolfgang officially dropped the “WVH” initials from the band’s name earlier this year. He shortened it to simply Mammoth. Blabbermouth reported that Wolfgang explained the name reflects his role as both guitarist and singer, much like his father’s original involvement with the band. This change nods directly to his family’s legacy. Mammoth was the original band fronted by his father Eddie Van Halen and uncle Alex Van Halen before they formed Van Halen in the 1970s.

The band’s origins trace back to Wolfgang’s time as a member of Van Halen. He initially started Mammoth as a solo project there. Wikipedia noted that the project evolved into a full-time band after Eddie Van Halen’s death in 2020. Wolfgang, a multi-instrumentalist, recorded all instruments on their previous albums himself. He continues the family’s musical heritage with a fresh direction.

The name Mammoth carries significant historical weight in rock music. The Spokesman-Review detailed how the original Mammoth was formed in the early 1970s by Eddie and Alex Van Halen before they eventually changed their name to Van Halen. Wolfgang pays homage to his father’s earliest musical endeavors by adopting this name. He also establishes his own artistic identity.

Wolfgang’s approach to the band reflects his multi-instrumental abilities and desire to maintain creative control. K-ZAP highlighted that he handles vocals, guitar, bass, and drums on recordings. This showcases the same musical versatility that made his father a legendary figure in rock music. This comprehensive approach allows him to craft a sound that honors the Van Halen legacy while pursuing his own artistic vision.
