Wolfgang Van Halen has remained silent against David Lee Roth’s recent words about him. The bassist, known to use social media actively, has never been shy about addressing such situations except for this time.
Earlier, Roth attacked Wolfgang not once but twice about their farewell tour with a video he uploaded on his social media accounts. After the footage took many slamming comments from the fans and even Sammy Hagar, Roth shared another video under the title’ Family Therapy..’ The video starts as a regular apology video, sobbing while stating how sorry he is for hurting people, only to reveal later it was not a genuine apology with the words:
“Sike, f*ck you.”
Although both fans and Sammy Hagar were unhappy with Roth’s words, the Van Halen drummer Alex Van Halen sided with the rocker. He proposed that covering the lawyer’s fees to renegotiate the album’s streaming presence wasn’t justified by the potential benefits:
“Do you remember Leon Spinks? How about Larry Holmes or Trevor Berbick? Well, these were the last couple of Muhammad Ali’s fights, and nobody wants to remember them because they were no fun… And your albums with Van Halen are a lot like those last two fights.”
Despite DLR’s strong remarks in both videos, Wolfgang chose to stay silent and hasn’t addressed any comments yet. This is the first instance where Wolfgang has refrained from responding after a heated argument among rockers. The possible reason behind his silence could be the inclusion of Alex Van Halen in DLR’s statements.
The Reason Of The Fake Apology Video

The apology came a few months after Wolfgang alleged that his only record with the band, ‘A Different Kind Of Truth,’ was absent from major streaming services due to Roth’s dislike for it.
‘A Different Kind Of Truth’ achieved significant commercial success upon its release, with sales surpassing 411,000 copies in the U.S. alone by the end of 2012. However, in October 2022, the album was removed from almost all streaming platforms. After the album was launched, Van Halen went on tours in 2012 and 2015, with Wolfgang playing the bass. These tours turned out to be their last performances before the band broke up.
After Wolfgang’s statement, Roth shared a video titled ‘This Crazy Kid..,’ where he criticized the bassist for ejecting his guests from a New York performance during the last tour. Roth also asserted that Wolfgang accused the singer of not giving him attention on stage during their joint tour.
Hagar Sides With Wolfgang

After receiving critical comments from DLR, Hagar shared his reaction to Roth’s remarks about Wolfgang, who played alongside his father in Van Halen from when he was 15 in 2006 to 2020.
Regarding Hagar’s perspective on the video, Roth’s negativity towards Wolfgang seems to be attributed to feelings of nothing but ‘jealousy.’ He stated:
“Look, if you really think about what he said, it’s like do I sense a little tinge of jealousy in there or something? Does he feel like he’s left out or something? I mean, honestly, the only thing I can say without being cruel is he needs to find a new dispensary. That one’s not working for him.”
Hagar has not made any remarks about Wolfgang’s and Alex Van Halen’s statements.
