Dino Jelusick recently reflected on his time with Whitesnake following David Coverdale’s retirement announcement. He shared his thoughts in a statement featured on Made in Metal.

Jelusick expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to work with the legendary frontman and the band during their European tour with Foreigner.

“It’s surreal, man. David is still my favorite all time singer, and it was an absolute honor to be a part of his reptile party for a couple of months before the tour ended,” Jelusick said. “And I’m very honored that I got that call. It’s a very honorable call. It was great.”

The guitarist emphasized his appreciation for the entire band. He reflected on the experience of touring together.

“I love those people and enjoyed every moment of touring and hanging out with David and Tommy and Joel and Reb and Mikel and Tanya,” he continued. “Wish it lasted longer, but it was amazing. Great tour with Foreigner in Europe. And yeah, I can’t believe it’s been already three years since that ended.”

Jelusick’s remarks come in the wake of a significant moment in rock history. The legendary frontman made a major announcement about his future in the music industry.

David Coverdale announced his retirement from music in mid-November 2025. This came after more than 50 years in the business. The rock legend has fronted both Deep Purple and Whitesnake throughout his storied career, and he decided it was time to step away from performing and recording.

In his retirement announcement, Coverdale reflected on his remarkable journey. He stated it was “time to hang up my rock and roll platform shoes and my skintight jeans” after five decades of dedication to music. The announcement resonated deeply with fans and fellow musicians alike, marking the end of an era for one of rock’s most iconic voices.

Following his initial retirement announcement, Coverdale made an additional statement in December 2025. He announced his intention to step away from social media after more than 20 years of online interaction. In this farewell message, he expressed his desire to “fully engage in sweet reflection on my career & my life & enjoy my retirement,” signaling a complete withdrawal from the public eye. Loudwire documented this announcement.

The coverage of Coverdale’s retirement has been widespread across major music publications. American Songwriter documented his farewell messages and the reactions from the music community. His decision to retire marks a poignant conclusion to a career that has influenced generations of rock musicians and fans worldwide.

Jelusick’s emotional tribute underscores the profound impact Coverdale has had on those who have worked alongside him. It cements his legacy as one of rock music’s greatest frontmen.
