When Dave Grohl Was Proven Wrong By A Fan During A Foo Fighters Show

David Grohl is no doubt one of the most successful and prominent drummers in the rock music scene. In fact, he was estimated to be the third wealthiest drummer worldwide in 2012, with a net worth of $260 million. Although he rose to fame as Nirvana’s drummer, Grohl is currently the frontman and songwriter of the band he formed, Foo Fighters.

Apart from his career in Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl also made collaborations with numerous artists. Appearing as a drummer in most of his music projects and collaborations, Grohl even performed in an online drum battle with 10-year-old drummer Nandi Bushell. Later, the drummer offered Bushell to perform with the Foos on stage, and she played with the band at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

However, it was not the first time Foo Fighters invited another drummer to show their talents on the stage. Let’s learn about the incident, which deeply shocked Dave Grohl.

Foo Fighters Invited A Fan On Stage To Play Drums

On June 19, 2019, while the Foos were performing at the Pula Arena in Croatia, they invited a fan to play drums. It was to Grohl’s surprise that the fan turned out to be quite a talented drummer. The fan was Richard Greenbury, who is also a drummer and a huge fan of Foo Fighters.

Speaking to Radio X for an interview, he stated that he went to Croatia just to see the Foos perform. During the concert, he held up a sign which read ‘Taylor, if you need a break, can I drum?’ Although he had little hope, Grohl spotted him, and he went on the stage to play drums during ‘Wheels.’

During his performance, Greenbury was very excited to be on stage with his idols. Moreover, Dave Grohl was also surprised by the fan’s talented drumming. After inviting Greenbury to the stage and hearing him play, Grohl was unable to hide his astonishment.

Dave said, ‘This motherfucker can play the drums!’ Moreover, one fan in the video’s comments section also pointed out Grohl’s initial words, ‘I hope he knows how to play the drums.’ The fan jokingly claimed that these are the musician’s ‘famous last words‘ as Greenbury turned out to be a very talented drummer.

The fan’s comment in the video’s comment section was:

“‘Dave: I hope he knows how to play the drums.’

Famous last words.”
