Vince Neil Finally Shares His Opinion On John 5 Replacing Mick Mars

Vince Neil has finally revealed his thoughts about John 5 in Mötley Crüe.

In a recent chat with 95.5 radio station, Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil talked about why they brought guitarist John 5 on board to fill in for Mick Mars. Neil shared his thoughts on what it’s been like hitting the road with John 5 for most of the past year. He said:

“He’s a good fit for the band. He’s a wonderful human being. He’s a great guy and he’s so talented, it’s scary. On stage, when he’s doing the solos, I usually go sit in the back and have some water and stuff and kind of kick it, but when he does the solo, I’ve gotta be out there watching him because he’s mesmerizing. He’s got that thing about him.”

John 5 Thinks Mars Would Want Him To Play

John 5 joined the band back in 2022 when Mars left the band for health-related issues. He officially became a part of Mötley Crüe during their Stadium Tour with Def Leppard in 2022.

During an interview, the guitarist discussed the new songs he and his bandmates recorded, and when the topic switched to Mars, he said Mars would want him to take his place:

“I think what’s important is that I have such a respect and fondness for Mick. And I think that if anybody was gonna do it, I think Mick would want me to do it because I love the music and I love Mick so much and I love his solos, just like the world does. And I think that’s important. I think that’s really, really important ’cause I hold him on such a pedestal.”

Though John 5 joined the band as a replacement for Mars, the former guitarist said there were no bad feelings between each other. In a separate interview, he explained:

“Mick’s tone is incredible, and his playing is incredible. I had to change [guitar amp] heads; I adjusted my sound. I still use a Telecaster, but Mick also used Telecaster during ‘Girls, Girls, Girls.’ He used the Telecaster quite a bit. I have such a respect for and a love for Mars, and he knows that.”
