It’s a usual occurrence for bands to break up in the world of rock. And yet fans of these bands never give up hope for a reunion, even in hopeless cases. According to Ville Valo in an interview with Louder, this is not a hopeless wish for HIM fans. The musician encouraged his fans to keep their hopes up for a future reunion.
HIM was active for 25 years until it was disbanded in 2017 with a farewell show. Valo, who has focused on his solo career since then, released his debut solo album, ‘Neon Noir,’ last month, in January 2023. The album, which was unconventionally produced track by track according to Valo’s explanation, received support and positive feedback from his fans. Along with the feedback came the question of whether he and the other members of the group would bring HIM back together since they separated their ways on good terms years ago.
Ville, who, in several previous statements, claimed that the band broke up because ‘they lost their spark,’ answered the question in a positive manner. The ex-vocalist of HIM stated that he enjoys playing with his former bandmates. However, he believes that now is not the right time for a reunion since they need more time away from each other.
Valo explained his view by saying:
“Never say never. I’d love to play music with those guys in the future. They’re great musicians and lovely fellows. But not now. Like I say, absence makes the heart grow fonder.”
Clearly, it is possible for the band to reunite at some point in the future, as far as Ville Valo is concerned. But he currently believes that it is not the proper time for that kind of reunion for HIM.
