Most of you know Jamie Campbell Bower, probably for his role in Stranger Things. However, the artist is also an accomplished musician. He was in a band but left it to pursue a solo career in music. In his last conversation with Kerrang, he shared his feelings about his departure from Counterfeit and the new chapter of his musical journey.

“For me, this is a new chapter of my artistic exploration,” the artist said, revealing his excitement for this new chapter of his life. “Being sort of on my own now has allowed me to go and be more free in the creative process. I can now kind of go, ‘Well, we can do whatever we want,’ and then we’ll just make that work in a live setting.”

He continued, “It’s taking all the things that I loved in Counterfeit – a lot of the rock elements – and blending it with things that perhaps weren’t suitable for Counterfeit. But mainly this is an opportunity for me to kind of just be more expressive.”

Campbell was a founding member of Counterfeit and was also the lead vocalist. The English punk rock band, which jumped onto the stage in 2015, released their debut album within two years. Although they proved to be a promising newcomer with ‘Together We Are Stronger,’ the band’s journey did not last long, and in 2020, Campbell announced the band’s disbandment.

However, the fact that he was finished with the London punks did not stop the vocalist, who was full of passion for music. In 2021, the musician started flying solo under the name Jamie Bower and began to explore the darker side of music in this chapter of his life. The first two tracks he dropped were ‘Paralysed’ and ‘Start The Fire.’

In the interviews he gave at that time, he had shared that continuing as a ‘lone wolf’ was one of the best decisions he had ever made; it made him feel very free, and thus he could continue on his way, relying only on his own instincts. Judging by his last interview, he’s still quite happy with this decision.
